“I have faith that the universe is in a giant conspiracy for our ultimate well being if we can listen to its promptings.” – David Pond, Spring Equinox Newsletter
The astrological year is winding to a close as we approach the Spring Equinox on March 20th (Fall in the Southern Hemisphere). On Sunday (4:21pm PDT), the Sun will move from Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, into Aries, the first sign, signifying the birth of a new cycle. The day and night are equal and the light begins to take ascendance.
With both Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, powerful energy for new beginnings has already been brewing. But Spring Equinox is traditionally the time to set into motion what you want to manifest over the course of the coming year. As Barbara Hand Clow writes, “The modern calendar abuses our consciousness!” (AstroFlash!) — there’s not a lot of energy to support new beginnings in the dead of winter.
At Spring Equinox, clarify desires, set intentions, and plant seeds for the future. Pay attention to where that spark of spring-time vitality is stirring in you. Your desires, your passions, your instinctual urgings are sending you a message about what wants to be created through you, which new direction now wants to be pursued.
Aries is the archetype of the Warrior, and it takes no small amount of courage to trust your instincts enough to act on them. If you intend to postpone taking action until you have the “perfect plan,” you’ll miss the boat. Aries says, Just get started, take one step forward in the direction of your desires, take a risk.
This year’s Equinox highlights where the individual meets the collective, how our personal lives intersect with the larger unfolding story of these times. As the Sun moves into Aries, he immediately meets up with Uranus the Great Awakener, who just made his dramatic entry into Aries on March 11th. Moreover, the Sun in Aries energizes the Uranus-Pluto square and the Cardinal Grand Cross.
Uranus and Pluto are both “outer planets” — way out there beyond Saturn, and invisible to the naked eye. Outer planets signify collective, evolutionary forces, and an outer planet changing signs reflects a major shift in terms of where the consciousness growth is ready to happen.
Uranus in Aries (until 2019) awakens the power of the individual. As David Pond points out, “this is the first time since 1972 that one of the outer planets has been in a personal sign…. [E]xistence is now seeking to express and discover itself through the individual: you. It is time to set yourself free and allow for personal awakenings, individual breakthroughs, discoveries and personal growth.” (Spring Equinox newsletter)
In the face of the military-industrial-pharmaceutical-technological corporatocracy, and the breakdown of its suicidal systems and structures (Pluto in Capricorn), every individual on the planet is being asked/compelled to step up to the plate in a way that requires more consciousness, integrity, courage, compassion and wisdom than ever before. In the midst of the chaotic destruction of the old, we are rebirthing humanity, and recreating the world, moment by moment, step by step.
The spark of vitality that you feel, that may be drawing you in an exciting but terrifying new direction, is not to be ignored, denied or squelched in the face of collective undoing. That spark is the Universe’s personal message to you, alerting you to your unique, particular role at this critical moment in time. Your job is to TRUST, and take the first brave step forward.
